Jay Z Unexpectedly Cancels Rest of Tour

Jay-Z has unexpectedly canceled all his remaining tour dates for his Blueprint 3 nationwide tour date. He tries to cite the result as “un foreseen scheduling conflicts”, but how does that happen when you already had these dates planned and commited to them?

The fans who were planning on attending the remaining shows have reportedly gotten full refunds.

This news comes shortly after Jay-Z and Young Jeezy announced their 2010 Blueprint 3tour. Starting on February 22nd in Houston Texas at the Toyota Center. The tickets started going on sale for this tour November 13th at Livenation. But after cancelling this tour without a real explanation I wouldnt hold my breath to long on this upcomming tour, if he did it once he might do it again.

Maino & Littles Hold Event in Honor of Mike Beck

Rap artist and K.A.R. member Mike Beck passed away on October 20 of this year. The emcee was shot and killed in Brooklyn, New York during a robbery attempt. After being impacted by the tragic news, Maino and Littles decided to put together “Self Destruction,” a party and concert meant to provide unity in the wake of ongoing violence in New York.

Grafh, Hell Rell, Saigon, Uncle Murda and Cadillac Tah are some of the acts slated to perform at the event. DJ Kay Slay, Dee Vasquez and K. Foxx will be sharing hosting duties.

Littles added more on why he chose to take part in this event.

“I will do my best to see that the message gets out there to our youth about what has happened to Mike Beck and others alike around the world. We have to come together in peace November 23rd and the message will start in the Hip Hop community. I worked hard along with the rappers performing to get this concert together and also spread the message.”

Maino echoed the sentiments.

“The streets need guidance. The recession has dudes in hoods around America hungry. I’m fresh off a platinum plaque, ‘All The Above’ just went platinum. So as far as I’m concerned I made it out the ghetto, but Mike Beck’s passing has given me the fuel to take a few hours out of my day and give back to the lane that got me where I am…This event will help send Mike Beck’s son to college. We have to start looking out for one another.”

Earlier this month, Bun B., Busta Rhymes, Uncle Murda and others joined Kay Slay for “Self Destruction ‘09,” a remake the classic “Self Destruction.” This inspired the title for the event being held in honor of Mike Beck. As Maino and Littles noted, the event is set to take place on November 23 at Imperial nightclub in New York City. The event will raise funds for Mike Beck’s son’s college fund.

Xzibit To Co-Star With Nicholas Cage In Port Of Call Remake

Later this month, rapper Xzibit will star alongside actor Nicolas Cage when the film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is released in select theaters across the country.

Xzibit stars as the villainous Big Fate in Bad Lieutenant, a murderous drug dealer who has dealings with Cage’s character.

In the film, Cage plays a dirty detective living in post-Katrina New Orleans who uses his clout as detective to retrieve drugs for his growing habit.

Directed by Werner Herzog Bad Lieutenant also stars Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Jennifer Coolidge, Fairuza Balk, and Shawn Hatosy.

On November 20, Bad Lieutenant will be released in the following major cities: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Following the November 20 release Bad Lieutenant will be released in the weeks following in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston, and more.

Beautiful Dress Made Out Of 24,000 LEDs [Design]

24,000 full-color, super-thin LEDs, 4,000 Swarovski crystals, and enough iPod batteries to keep everything glowing for about an hour. This picture doesn’t do the Galaxy Dress justice, but the video comes close.

This gorgeous thing was designed by Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz and they say that it’s the “the largest wearable display in the world.” I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I do know that I wanted to cry when I read that the dress went straight from the sewing room to the museum mannequin, without ever being worn by a real woman. Salvador Santana, son of legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, is branching out with his own style of music for his debut album Keyboard City.

Trained as a pianist from grade school up to his college years, the Bay-Area native has worked his way up the music pyramid, most notably through the Salvador Santana Band. However, with his first commercial release, Santana has gone the urban route crafting his project with a few of Hip Hop’s most revered names, including Money Mark of the Beastie Boys and Del the Funky Homosapien.

Praising Mark’s contributions, Santana stated, “With all the people I’ve ever collaborated with or just working by myself, I have never produced so many ideas into songs as I have during these Money Mark sessions. That guy is just a machine.”

The album will also feature the title-track remix with emcee GZA. Keyboard City will be released February 2, 2010 on Quannum Records.

In other news, the Souls Of Mischief are still on pace to release Montezuma’s Revenge on December 1.

Excited to unleash their latest work on fans who have been following them since the early 90’s,Tajai explained, “This album to me is a great insight into who we are as people and how important it is to progress stylistically, yet it retains a classic, timeless feel.”

Executive-produced by Prince Paul, Tajai stated the collaboration took some time, but the quality is worth the wait. “Paul is a perfectionist and so are we so we took time with the beats and subject matter.”

This will be the Soul Of Mischief’s first album since their 2000 release Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution. The crew is currently touring Europe in promotion for Montezuma’s Revenge.

Finally, the Los Angeles-based trio Electrolightz is quietly making a name for themselves in clubs and venues across the region.

Comprised of producer ErOc, emcee Namebrand, and vocalist/song-writer Rami Dearst,Electrolightz blend synthesizer melodies, catchy lyrics and a feel-good vibe for an end product that is primed for radio and club spins.

On an episode of Saturday Night Live that aired on Saturday, November 7 country/pop singerTaylor Swift made fun of her VMA encounter with rapper Kanye West in a song entitled “Monologue Song (La, La, La).”

While performing the “Monologue Song” at the top of the show Swift was ironically surrounded by a group of faux security guards.

“You might think I might say/something bad about Kanye/and how he ran up on the stage and ruined my VMA monologue/but there’s nothing more to say/because everything’s okay/I’ve got security lining the stage,” sang Swift.

Swift’s “Monologue Song” was the only segment of the show to mention West or his VMAencounter with Swift.

But during her stint as host of SNL, the singer did poke fun of a number of other celebrities including reality star Kate Gosselin and singer Joe Jonas.
